Rowing Video Analysis: Coach Bergenroth App (Beta Test)

I’ve been eager to develop this functionality for some time. The primary aim is to enhance rowing video analysis with real-time force application feedback. By integrating force curve data directly onto recorded footage, users can view their technique in slow motion alongside crucial performance metrics, enabling detailed analysis of both technique and force application.

Previously, video review and force curve analysis were separate processes. This latest update in the Coach Bergenroth app’s beta version revolutionizes this approach. Now, coaches and athletes can record their technique and simultaneously view metrics such as elapsed time, power, and drive length, with the force curve data superimposed on the video.

To use this feature, simply connect the app to a Concept2 Ergometer’s PM5 using the standard procedure. A camera icon is positioned in the top right of the metrics view (see image below). Tap this icon, position your device so your profile is in the camera’s view, and press the record button on the top left of the screen. If prompted, allow the app to record your screen.

During your training session, the app captures everything displayed on the screen. A green “recording” indicator confirms that the process is active. After completing your session, press the stop icon next to the recording button to end the capture.

A preview window will pop up, allowing you to save the recorded session to your device’s photos. This feature captures all 17 metrics, facilitating simultaneous data collection and video analysis.

For a glimpse of what this feature can do, check out the example rowing video analysis above. Enjoy exploring this new addition to your training toolkit!
