When I started to struggle with heart issues in 2015, due to Atrial Fibrillation and have three surgeries to help alleviate symptoms it became clear to me that coaching Tulsa Youth Rowing Association was no longer a viable option. The days were too long, and I wasn’t seeing my family as much as I would have liked to.
At that time, my future as a coach in the sport was ambiguous and unclear. After about six months, I needed to find a way to stay connected to the sport of rowing. So I started the blog/website as a way to communicate coaching tips that I had learned along my journey since starting to row as a high school student at the age of 13.
I committed to write one blog each month and to also supporting the blog with a YouTube channel full of training tips and all the coaching advice that I could think of. At the start of my blog, very little people were reading it or paying attention. However, with discipline and consistency the number of articles grew on the site and the search engines started to take notice.
My philosophy was to give away as much knowledge and advice as possible and share my love of rowing with as many as I could. I did not expect anything in return.
However, as a result of my efforts, I have been fortunate to coach many people all over the world and was able to create a new future for myself as an online coach.
My thanks and gratitude go to all of my readers and supporters. Also, thank you to the people who have mentored me along the way and made an investment in helping me the best rower and coach that I can be.
